The new Beemster cheese dairy is “the most sustainable dairy in the world”, in operation since 2014 and immediately voted the most sustainable building in the Netherlands. With lots of wood and glass, it blends perfectly into the wide polder landscape. Cheese production is already CO2 neutral and climate neutral as from 2020, all while maintaining the traditional artisan production method.
